Dr. Pessa is board certified in plastic and reconstructive surgery and fellowship trained in hand surgery. He welcomes the opportunity to restore function and appearance to patients with conditions related to trauma or illness. Advanced Plastic and Hand Surgery A graduate of the University of Massachusetts Medical College, Dr. Pessa remained at UMass for his general surgery residency and went on to complete his fellowship in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Duke University. Later, he accomplished his hand fellowship at the prestigious Christine M.Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery. During his 30-plus years of practice, Dr. Pessa has served academic appointments at several teaching hospitals, including the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He's been a leader in advancing research to enhance the safety of patients undergoing plastic surgery procedures. He is a Diplomate in the American Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
